Royals at Washington Square Park
The people of Kansas City love the Royals. And many love the idea of a downtown baseball park. But voters didn't love how the campaign for the first site was handled. As part of the team proposing Washington Square Park, independent from the Royals and the City, we carefully thought through voters concerns and frustrations. While there is no perfect answer to every challenge, we believe this Washington Square Park solves the majority of issues.
We are excited for the Royals and the City to consider this site.
We have visited downtown ballparks across the U.S. and we were impressed by game day energy as fans of all ages walked to the game in their team jerseys, hats and colors. Before and after the games, restaurants and bars were filled and there was a sense of civic pride that added vibrancy and fun to downtown.

We also believe that the concerns from Jackson County voters, especially our neighbors here in the Crossroads were valid and deserve to be addressed. In the plan developed by our team:

The new site requires zero business displacements.

While there are nearly 19,000 parking spaces, the new site can be easily access by KCATA busses and the KC Streetcar.

The site helps connect Crown Center, Liberty Memorial and Union Station to the Crossroads, and even further north.

The site will cost significantly less to develop.

And, selfishly, it will be a 5-minute walk from our office to the games.
